Sport Hornet - N25DV

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

David I flew the plane to Blackwell Sunday a week ago. They are doing an annual and changing some things. I am also having them paint it. the paint was cracking and chiping. I am thinking of do a design similar to yours. [/img] I can't seem to figure out how to put in a picture.

I have just bought a super Hornet. I flew my Tripacer to Erie PA to trade. I got sick and flew home Airlines. I had the hornet flown to GUY OK by a ferry pilot. At first it was kinda trickey landing but I am getting where I can land it.

Are you flying to the factory or is someone coming to you?

Regarding your landings what speed and flaps settings?

Quit on the net

Post by TBIRD30 »

Not much going on on this net. I haven't done much flying the weather hasn't been the best. A few weeks ago I did fly from Guymon OK To Pampa TX to do an annual on a Vans RV6. I went out to the hanger to fill it up and found the nose tire flat. I went to tractor supply and bought a new tube. Than I took my grand kids for a ride they really like that. I have the 100hp Super Hornet. I just thought I would wright some thing on the the net. keep your speed up.
Ted

TBird30 - Keep flying

Things have been busy and weather has not been too good up here in PA for flying over the last few weeks. Hope you had a good holiday. The following pictures are from late Nov close to Reading, PA. Note the large corn maze left over from Halloween, took this photo with the iPhone @3500. This was a very large corn field.

A friend took the other picture of me taking off from KPTW in Pottstown, PT.

Take care

Today I had to pleasure to visit Dave and his pride and joy N25DV. We had a great discussion and exchanged flying stories. Winds were gusting a bit much for LSA flying.

Thanks for coming over to PTW

Marcus,

It was good to finally meet someone on SportPilotTalk.com. Since we couldn’t fly it was at least fun to exchange stories about flying LSAs. We will have to get up in the Sporthornet soon. When we fly you will have to suffer through the glass instruments and all of the other toys,

Take care hope to meet others on the forum soon.

Club Flyer, I am still planning on visiting 76N.

It was amazing well equipped for an LSA. It was the first time I had the opportunity to see a Sport Hornet up close. I appreciated it. We will hopefully get together again/.

So, what are basic parameters of the Hornet? E.g. the cruise speed (with doors), useable load, range with max fuel? The link at the website is broken, so there is no official document.

Also, I was unable to find the price in this thread, not even for the N25DV. I understand the need for privacy, so I'm not demanding anything. Just curious, since the price is a part of the appeal.

Answers to your questions for N25dv

Post by David »

Pete,

The following are my answers for N25DV, not a official response from the factory. I would call them directly for more info.

I cruise at 90 - 95 kts and the maximum level flight that I have done is 104 kts, with the current setting on my Ivo prop

My usable load is as follows – keep in mind I have loaded my plan with avionics, a BRS, internal heater, auto pilot and a few other goodies. I think I am approximately 30 – 50lbs heavier than the stock Sport Hornet.

Total max wt 1320
Dry wt -740
Usable 580
18 gal fuel -108
---------- ------
Payload 472

Ball Park price is approximately 80’s with all of the toys I have added, that said still a good price. You need to contact them for a better price on a base model and then add the accessories you would want.

Hope this answers your question.

We use to have a house in Red River until we move up North. Miss the mexican food, haven't found a good place in PA yet!

Take care, and have some good green Chili Mexican food for me!

Come out to Central PA, David. We have a nice restaurant in Williamsport, run by a Mexican immigrant family. Very authentic and reasonably priced. Fly up here for a hundred dollar... taco!
