Rotax 914iS?

Talk about airplanes! At last count, there are 39 (and growing) FAA certificated S-LSA (special light sport aircraft). These are factory-built ready to fly airplanes. If you can't afford a factory-built LSA, consider buying an E-LSA kit (experimental LSA - up to 99% complete).

Rotax 914iS?

Post by c162pilot »

Does anybody on this board know if Rotax is working on a fuel injected Fadec controlled version of the 914?

Not that they admit to, but you never know.

I had not considered that idea, but it makes perfect sense.

Not at this time. They almost didn't finish the 912is. It almost got shelved.

I believe the 914 is a turbo charged 912 (80hp) and not based on the 912s. This would imply that a 914i would be close to a clean sheet design. Probably not something that can be brought to market quickly and relatively cheaply.

According to Roger, the 912iS is 85% new. So I don't think Rotax is afraid of an engineering challenge.
