Pipistrel Virus SW Fatal

Post by ct4me »

I missed this last week... sadly not good news, but maybe a learning opportunity.
A Pipistrel Virus SW went down last week, taking the pilot's life. There are many details in the Kathryn's Report posting, but: Longtime pilot stepping down from a 182 (most recent) to a LSA. He was flying from Sebring FL to S. Carolina, when he got caught up in very bad weather. There hasn't been official word on the cause, but the crash area had two tornado warnings about the same time as the crash, and severe weather reported throughout the area. One wing was found almost 5 miles from the crash scene.
