Stall and Spins. Its not just about speed but AoA.

Post by Torque »

Every pilot needs to read this IMHO.

Unlike many in the flight-training industry who prefer to disregard the realities of spins with a simple "if you don't stall, you won't spin," master flight instructor and 2006 National Flight Instructor of the Year Rich Stowell dives head first into stall and spins to cover every conceivable element known about these terror-inducing menaces to aviation.

This massive tome spans 520 pages and details everything that's been learned about stall & spins since the dawn of powered flight. Among the highlights are chapters devoted to accident statistics, the human factors elements of stalls & spins, and the controversial issue of spin training in flight instruction. Also features a chapter by former NASA Chief of Flight Operations Jim Patton. The only book on stall/spin awareness from an aviation expert who's spent decades taking planes for a spin.

Thanks, will read. Another great book, suggested by this forum members, was the "stick and rudder" by Langewiesche. Great read.

Thanks for posting that. I ordered the book shortly after I saw your post yesterday.
