This morning's Today Show interviewed everyone involved except the pilot of the lower altitude plane. By the looks of the video, he may have ascended into the jump plane above. I'm guessing he lawyered up and will be buried in paperwork for a while...

I didn't hear them talk. If the two airplanes were going to be flying next to each other they should have briefed before they took off. One airplane should be watching for traffic and the other should be making sure it doesn't run into the first airplane. Never should they be in a position that the number 2 guy can't see the lead airplane and avoid a collision.

In the video, it looks like the trail plane allowed the lead plane to get into his blind spot, below the cowl. Once the skydivers started climbing onto the wing strut, the aircraft veered to the right and lost some altitude, resulting in the collision with the lead aircraft, who had no way of seeing the trail aircraft approaching. Scary stuff.
