I'm not certain if an S-LSA is legally placed in the "Certificated" family of aircraft but I know all EAB's are NOT certificated and they all have a pink Airworthiness Certificated.
* In my "old-school" vernacular, for an aircraft to be certificated, its manufacture must be covered by a published FAA Type Certificate.
* In more recent reg's, a plane on the ramp that can be rented needs to be a certificated aircraft unless it had a Letter of Deviation Authority (LODA).
S-LSA's can be rented-out.
I'm leaning in favor of S-LSA's fitting the de-facto definition of a certificated aircraft.
