There's been some interest in & discussion here about starting up a partnership or - with bigger numbers of participants - a flying club, the goal of both being to make LSA ownership significantly more affordable AND in some areas to make an LSA available at all. If this interests you, AOPA is now sponsoring a series of Webinars on the 'how to's' of starting a flying club:

"AOPA’s Center to Advance the Pilot Community (CAPComm) held the first of a planned monthly series of webinars Nov. 14. The webinar, with 631 registrants, covered what people need to start their own flying club. Webinar speakers were Adam Smith, senior vice president of the Center to Advance the Pilot Community; Woody Cahall, vice president of AOPA’s Pilot Information Center; Garry Ackerman of the North Texas Flying Club; and Ray Speciale, an attorney and certified public accountant at Yodice Associates. A recording of the 90-minute webinar will be available for those who missed the live presentation."

Each webinar will be 'taped' and available on-line afterwards, as well as live.

Here's one stat offered in the first webinar that's worth some reflection: "According to AOPA flying club research, 55 percent of pilots interviewed have been or were in a flying club. Of those, 96 percent felt it was a positive experience."
