quicksilver SLSA and rides for compensation.

Post by busted »

The dealer thinks I can put a sign out in front of the small airport here and advertise scenic rides if I have a commercial rateing, (i do). I'm almost positive an SLSA aircraft can only be used for rental and instuction only. Giving senic rides would be nice as I do not want to reinstate my experied CFI. thanks

You can not charge for local sight seeing flights in a SLSA. You were correct in stating that they can only be used for flight training and rental. Oh, and towing of an ultralight or light sport glider.

Tom is absolutely correct. The only possible work-around is to be a CFI, and give discovery flights (which can be quite scenic) to prospective students. But, only one introductory lesson to a customer! After that, TSA requires you to verify citizenship and issue the security endorsement.
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.
