Need a Taylorcraft CFI (or at lease a tailwheel CFI)

Finally, a place for sport pilot instructors and/or wannabees to talk about instructing.

Pity.
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.

There are several of the Champ models that are too heavy. The current LSA offering by American Champion was evolved from a model that was too heavy. They changed the type certificate stating any serial number after a certain point has a max gross weight of 1320 pounds.

Hey, the 7AC Champ I started training in back in 1961 (a 1946 model, same as me!) was 800 pounds empty, 1220 max gross. Same useful load as the heaviest of today's SLSAs.

7AC is LSA, 7FC is not.
Retired from flying.

There are several different models in the 7 series of airplane, all the way up to the Citabria 7ECA. The current Champ is a 7EC IIRC, and early versions had a gross weight to high to be LSA.
