I have a SP candidate tentatively scheduled for a Practical Test with me on Friday, 8 June. Still awaiting confirmation from the FSDO that the Inspector will be available to observe me.

The applicant, instructor, aircraft, FAA inspector, and weather did indeed all come together Friday, and progress was made - but we're not done yet. The applicant completed his oral exam, but we didn't fly due to discrepancies in the aircraft's Maintenance logbook. So, we did a discontinuance.

Those discrepancies (a documentation issue, not a mechanical one) have now been resolved, and we've rescheduled the flight portion for tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's raining right now, and forecast to continue through tomorrow, so we'll see...

Be glad we're only flying LSAs, boys and girls. I just learned that there is only one FAA Designated Pilot Examiner for the Airship category in the whole USA! (Not surprisingly, he happens to be Goodyear's Chief Pilot, 'Doc' Dougherty.)

Thankfully, the weather cooperated, and I was honored to present the world with it's newest Sport Pilot. (see images above)

That sounds like very fulfilling retirement - doing work you love without too much stress usually associated with running full time business.

I hope I can do something similar when it is time to retire ...

Thanks, Eddie. Today I got a request to do a practical test in a 7AC Champ. It will be a nostalgia flight for sure, since that's what I started in at North Perry in 1961. However, first I need to get myself taildragger-current!

Don’t worry - It’s a lot like riding a bicycle. Except you can’t ground loop a bicycle!

I don't know, Eddie. If anyone could groundloop a bicycle, that would be me.

You should meet somewhere in between. It wouldn't take Paul long to get up to speed and he could buy you lunch.
Retired from flying.
