SPIs teach for the love of aviation and CFIs teach for a career in aviation.
Then there's the third category - oldtimer CFIs. Many of us are retired from (or escaping from) a career in aviation, or some other career, and are just trying to get back to the "love of aviation" part.

Paul,

Clarification to my post "SPI teach for the love of aviation" - I was referring to flight instructors that teach sport pilot, albeit SPI or CFI.
