Flying Circus

Post by rsteele »

I went to the Flying Circus in Bealton, Va. today. Just a perfect day; clear blue sky, uppers 70's and a light breeze.

I recommend it to anyone who's interested in aviation. The circus has several Stearmans, a couple of Wacos, a Pitts, LH4 and a Cub. The show is based on old time barnstorming. Parts of it is a bit corny, but overall they do a really nice job. Among other things, they have flour bombing, formation flying (without radios!) wing walking and aerobatics. I really enjoyed the power off aerobatics in the Cub - you an hear the wind whistling though the rigging.

I've decided I'd really like to fly a Cub. There's just something about them.

Check out the web site http://www.flyingcircusairshow.com.

Bealton is about 1 to 11/2 hours west of Washing D.C in Norther Va. There picnic grounds adjacent to the air field- a great place to spend the afternoon with kids
