A few days ago I did my first solo. It went pretty well. And I flew my pattern work as close as 2 miles from LAX and 1000ft from their class Bravo airspace.
That part wasn't too bad because I'd trained that way before.
Other than a little better rate of climb without my instructor things went well.

Samba XXL
I did not use flaps. Maybe could have used them to shorten take off, but who needs the aggravation.

I think the Solo time puts me right about 20 hours.MikeM wrote:Congratulations on your solo. It's a milestone I'm still waiting to reach. How long have you been training?

Congrats!!!!
People’s solo times are further verification (for me) that LSA’s are more difficult to fly then GA planes (150, 152, 172 and diamonds). I soloed in 8 hours in a katana and would have probably killed myself had I tried it in a LSA.
It took me a little time to transition to my Eurofox but I am a better “pilot” today because of it.
I like to take the GA guys flying with me, give them the stick for a while, and listen to their responses when we return. It is often different then before the flight.

20 hours breaks down like this:
3 hours from more than a year ago (unpowered glider)
12 hours in one type of LSA (easy to fly, hard to land)
5 hours in the one I used for Solo. (Ok to fly, easy to land)

Please tell us the plane that you thought was easy to fly and hard to land.
Thank you.
I flew PW-6 Glider (never landed myself) 34:1 0 hp
Lambada (Motor Glider, hard to land) 26:1 80hp
Samba XXL(Glider Motor, easy to land) 18:1 100hp
I call the Samba a Glider Motor, because it's more motor than glider.
