Someone using my tail number?

Some time ago I registered with FlightAware to alert me anytime my tail number is flying. Suddenly, today, I'm getting alerts that my tail number is flying near Savannah, Georgia. I'm quite certain my airplane is sitting in my hangar in Crescent City, Florida. So, either FlightAware is going haywire and misinterpreting transponder data, or someone has mis-programmed their ADSB-out device, or something nefarious is going on and someone is illegally using my tail number.

Anyone else ever had this happen? Who do I report it to?

Having a wrong N number somewhere can happen. I ran into something similar on a based aircraft report.

Well, my guy near Savannah was only flying at 1200 feet and about 100 knots, so it could have been almost any aircraft. It wasn't the result of a flight plan error since it was a "position-only flight". The flight path was definitely somebody doing testing or just having a good time (lots of switch backs and at least one 360). Guess I'll not worry until it happens more often. Thanks for responses.

On a separate note, how is your Sting adventure so far ? Still enjoying it ?
I am at 600 hours on my Sting and still having fun just like on the day I got the plane …

Wow, 600 hours on a plane much younger than mine! Good for you! I just turned over 666 hours on a flight yesterday (and, no, that number didn't scare me).

The Sting is a great airplane that fits my mission perfectly. The only thing I'm starting to notice is that, as I get older, getting in and out of a low-wing is getting a little more painful!

Not to change the subject any, but I am going to have a nice, very low hour, very well equipped, Sting S3 available for sale soon. If you Sting guys know of anyone looking for one.

Jeremy Knoll who runs Bushcat dealership and who I go for my annual ( who also became a dealer for TL ultralight planes recently ) wanted to buy my plane from me after my last annual in October.

Not sure if he is interested in S4 only though …
