LSA Rentals in Hawaii?

Post by cogito »

My wife and I are visiting Hawaii next month and we’d like to rent a GA aircraft, but all I see are beat up C172s, does anyone know of any Light Sports to rent (after proper checkout, of course) on the islands?

I have 2,000 hrs (1,500 of those are in LSAs and am IFR/Commercial/CFI.)

thanks for the help,
Craig

Thanks Murphy. The weather was pretty severe when we visited Kauai last month, 10 inches of rain one day, so no flying. But good to know for next trip, much appreciated.

Years ago I could not find one, so I booked a instructor and school plane. I logged the time in a Cessna as a student. It was cost effective when compared to a helicopter tour. Plus they asked twice if it was a lesson and not a tour even though my wife was with me. Since it was a logged as a lesson with the instructor we had more flexibility. We were not under the FAA tour operation guidance and just flew as a GA aircraft around the sites. It was also nice to have local knowledge where to visit for site seeing.
