Had an interesting trip

Post by rcpilot »

So I'm based at HWV on Long Island. Last Thursday I decide to make a trip(it was my birthday) to Sky Manor Airport(N40) in NJ and have breakfast at the restaurant there. I'm basically setting up for a straight in approach and I hear another plane making an RNAV approach. It's nowhere in site or on my ADS-B so I continue. I was a bit fast so I go around. I extend my downwind looking for the other plane which I see and then setup to be #2. After I land I see a few young guys getting out of the plane. They also went over to the restaurant and while I'm waiting to be seated one of them comes over to me and says he remembered my plane and was I based at HWV. I said yes and then he tells me I had given him an EAA Young Eagles ride, probably 4 years ago. I was glad to see him continuing his flying. Wow. What are the chances of meeting up like that. A little extra birthday present.

Another notable, amazing aviation coincidence.
They just happen every once in a while.

The aviation community is small (in the US, about 0.1% of the population). Sooner or later, we all meet each other (sometimes repeatedly).
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.

That's another cool thing about aviation.
