I do not disagree, but Van himself said this exact thing to me at Oshkosh a couple years ago. My reaction qas about the same as yours.
Yes it is surprising, especially when they are wanting to increase sales to flight schools. You would think a redesign is in order. I don’t believe the -12 iS was beefed up any.

Really enjoying the Sportstar! It's been great fun. Cheap to operate too, so far! I do miss RV speeds, but travel isn't my flying priority. I just want to get some room between me and planet Earth a few times per month. LSA is suiting me just fine.
