There will be so much you can buy you, start a list.

- Subscription to ForeFlight
- Headphones (FWIW I got some nice basic David Clarks on E Bay, used once).
- Nice non poloarized sunglasses.
- Do you have all of your Gleim or whatnot ground school books?

Great, encouraging wife BTW! Congrats on marrying well LOL.

For the time being, just have her call you "Maverick", rent Netflix TopGun, and......

Personally, I would not wear one unless it was 50+ years old and I was a retired military pilot or crew member.

We all need to be thankful we are in the USA and can dress as we like when we take to the Sky. Imagine flying across the pond and having to fly your Rental or Personal aircraft with a white shirt with epaulets.

Just get the jacket and don't worry what the peanut gallery thinks, you're not doing it for them.

I'm on my second A-2 style and have a German Luftwaffe style as well. Got my girlfriend a G-1 that she likes to wear when flying.

They are functional and comfortable.

Yep. Get the jacket if you like it ... it is a free country.

Personally , I would go for a german jacket like this one ... https://thehistorybunker.co.uk/ww1-and- ... her-Jacket
Much better looking and different enough that nobody will ask any questions.

Yup. I've still got mine from my Air Force days.
Heck, I still have mine from my CAP days back in the early 60's.
Take care of them, and they last forever.
Not that I'm going to fit in my CAP jacket ever again. I grew 3 inches and put on ummm, errrrr, a couple \three more pounds since then.

Hey, that's nothing. I've averaged a pound a year since I hung up my blue suit with the silver buttons in 1969. That comes to ... hell, you do the math!

Thanks for the great input and ideas. That German jacket looks awesome, but I don't think I can pull it off without a red Fokker DR1! I did get lucky with my wife, she is very supportive, but she understands I'm not going to do anything crazy without research, budgeting and almost an insane amount of planning. I've already got a David Clarke headset and two Faro's for passengers, a tablet and a Garmin pilot subscription, so I'm covered there. I've convinced her to wait until the summer when sales may pop up, maybe an alternative will catch her eye. Until then I'd love to see a forum member modeling the German flying jacket!

That's not just luck, Ed - you chose wisely. Now (this very minute, without delay!) go tell her how much you appreciate her.
