Nope, you'll be the the only one going this week because the show is actually next week.

Sebring LSA Expo is January 24-27 for the record.

I am however planning to go NEXT week on the 25th. Flying down from Zephyrhills.

Never been to an LSA specific expo .... frankly, if one is holding a full time job , it I hard enough to make time for even just one event like Oshkosh...
So I am wondering , are these LSA shows actually frequented by “real” people ( the way Oshkosh is) or are these events more for industry insiders ?

Yup, there are actually real people there. The 2 show in Florida are great shows and both growing in size. If you are interested in light sport it's the place to be. There's always something new to see and you get a chance to talk with manufacturers one on one.

Tecnam is right on the field and they have a large hangar full of beautiful aircraft. Lockwood is there if you happen to need parts and there's usually something going on at the race track just outside the gates.

There's something for everyone!

Lots of details on the website:
https://www.sportaviationexpo.com/

The presentations and seminars are aimed at pilots, not industry insiders. Last year I went to Rod Machado's session and he was hysterical. Many vendors and manufacturers with products on display.

From the website:
1.Demonstration flights available all day/every day – See up close, the latest in Sport and Adventure Aircraft: Cirrus, ICON, Pipistrel, AirCam, Bristell and more!
2.More than 130 exhibitors displaying the planes and products you need and want for your flying fun. At the Sebring Expo, you will have plenty of time and opportunity to talk with company representatives to get your questions answered. The Sebring Expo is the premier aviation event dedicated for you to fly, to try and to buy!
3.64 educational forums bring you a wealth of aviation information. From “How to Avoid a Fighter Escort”, “Around the World in 50 Days”, “Light Sport Flying and Buying Tips”, to “The Drone Evolution”, the Sebring Expo Forums will cover the gamut of aviation subjects. The Expo also will host a two-day build-your-own-airplane workshop by Zenith Aircraft, and Part 107 Education Series for prospective UAS/Drone pilots and operators.
4.Three dynamic Keynote Speakers! Hear AOPA’s Senior Director for Drones, Kathleen “Kat” Swain’s insight to the future of flight with Unmanned Systems, and, speaking about courage and challenges, Niloofar Rahmani will share what she faced to become the first women pilot of the Afghan Air Force. Expo is thrilled to welcome the return of renowned inspirational speaker and NASA astronaut, our friend, Dr. Story Musgrave.
5.Rusty Pilot Seminars, presented by AOPA Ambassador Jamie Beckett on Friday, will help lapsed pilots get back in the left seat.
6.Drones! Drones! Drones! Come for the exhibitsand demonstrations daily, and stay for the world-class Races! Competitors compete for Thousands of dollars in prizes.
7.Internationally ranked Aerobatic Pilots and the Aircraft they fly will be on display, along with a Virtual Reality Experience that will blow you away!
8.The History of Flight Comes to Life with a visit by the 1929 Ford Tri-Motor, one of the very first commercial passenger airplanes. Plus, “Flapping Flamingos, Batman!” – the 1960’s television series Bat Copter will perform on Friday and Saturday! Both special aircraft will be available for the brave and the bat-friendly to purchase a ride.
9.The Youth Aviation Zone – “YAZ” – will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, hosting Highlands County high school students for a day of Science, Technology and seriously awesome introductions to world-class aviation experts
10.Great weather, great friends– new and old – and a great atmosphere in which to explore the latest in aviation equipment. The Expo also is the annual largest gathering of members of the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA).

I went last year and really enjoyed going. Also went to the mid west expo last year. Sadly can't make Sebring this year, hoping to go to sun and fun even though not the same. Then planning on the Mid west expo again this year weather permitting of course.

Unfortunately, this year (for the first time) I will be absent from Sebring. I normally present four different FAA WINGS/AMT award seminars there every year. This year, FAA chose to hold their DPE class in Oklahoma City that very week. I tried to convince them to change the dates, to no avail. This just goes to show how low a priority LSA and the Sport Prlot rating are for the FAA. ; (

That’s a shame, Paul. I was looking forward to talking with you.

I thought you had more pull with the FAA than that.....

Designated Pilot Examiner. (I'm sure you know the acronym, Tom. Translation is for the benefit of our lurkers.)

I thought there might be more to the story that you wanted to share. Are you a presenter, or are you sitting on the other side of the table?

One who examines a designated pilot before a group flies home from the bar. Sorta like designated drivers.
