TFRs

Post by rcpilot »

This is getting to be ridiculous. Every week. Yeah, technically you can file a flight plan but really. I mentioned these to my former instructor and he said someone told him they've already had 7 intercepts of people violating the TFRs. I'm sure this is putting a dent in the flight schools.

Wow, all I can say is I am glad that isn't happening here in Cincinnati.

Also, doesn't the flight plan have to be an IFR flight plan? UGH, one more way us Sport Pilots can't fly.

All of these are VIPs. Frankly, that's more of a social/political issue since the same kind of nonsense is affecting drivers as well - just not with official NOTAMs but clogged highways and huge traffic delays when VIPs are moving around.

I think you just need to be on a flight plan with a discrete code, but I might be wrong on that - its not something we have to deal with very often out here in the boonies.

I think VIP TFRs are generally true restrictions, no VFR traffic through them, even with a squawk and talking to ATC. But at least ATC will steer you away. That's my understanding anyway, I could be wrong. I just drive around, since I don't like flying formation with F-16s.
