Stratux in a generic project box with 2500 mAh Lithium Ion battery and PowerBoost 1000. I just tested the battery and it took 4 hours to charge and lasted 4:15. That's better than I expected.

Painted white and added more holes for ventilation.

What app are you using? I just bought all the parts from Amazon including the GPS module. I'm not an Apple kind of guy so I'm trying out Android apps. I got to test it in the plane yesterday(using the Avare app on my phone) and it seems to work pretty well. Eventually I'll get an Android tablet. Experimenting with the different apps to see which one I like best.

I use iFly GPS and love it. I've tried them all except ForeFlight. iFly runs on Android, IOS, and Windows.

I just downloaded it and will try it out next time I fly.

If you have any problems getting the internal GPS to lock on, return it for credit and order a Vk-162 external GPS. It seems the internal GPS sometimes gets too much interference from the 978/1090 radios.

That's the one I have. Works great. I tried the iFly on my phone and I could see 2 planes in the pattern at my airport and their routes matched up with their radio calls.

Does anyone know where to get a larger capacity battery? This 2500mAh is only lasting about 2 hours.

I've been using this one:

I haven't tested out it's max duration but certainly should be more than 2 hours.

Thanks. That's what I use for an external battery. It last about 4 hours. What I'm looking for is a small, flat lithium ion battery to put INSIDE the self-contained Stratux I built. Someone over on Slack pointed me toward one that I just order, but thanks again.

I got this finished and everything works well. However, I decided to abandon this project. I'm concerned the lithium ion battery may get too hot inside the case with a Raspberry Pi, 2 SDR's, and a PowerBoost 1000. The last thing I need is an exploding battery in a SkyCatcher.
