Unoffical WingX user guide available

Post by FallenBrick »

This had been a passion project for me. I have always wanted to put together a guide to WingX to help new and existing users, get the most out of WingX.
During a recent 6 week out of town work assignment – I found I had the time in the evenings – so what started as a good idea, quickly grew to the point where it is today. At some point I have to raise the flag and say “I am done” – that day is today.

The link posted below is to a PDF file on Google Drive, it is to the first public release, but I expect there to be some revisions required once people read it and if possible make suggestions.

Feedback/comments can be sent to [email protected] or IM within this forum – I welcome all corrections and suggestions

Hope you find it useful.

We have been approached on other forums about offering to pay something for the guide. This was not done for financial gain but if you feel it is worth something to you, with Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching , please consider donating your money to one of the local Phoenix food banks. Lets add a bit of cheer to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Tony,

About a week ago I went through it after reading about it on POA and really liked it. More important, I learned some stuff.

I did catch a couple little mistakes - one place "decent" instead of "descent", that sort of minor thing.

What would be the best way to point those out to you? I'd be happy to sit down with it a second time and compile a short list.

Thanks - there was someone else helping me edit and I think the human spell checker missed a few things. Plus we did lose a final draft on a thumb drive so there was a panic to recreate the final edits from a version that was 3 days older.

Just drop a list to [email protected] and we will correct them.

I did reach out to him when I started this and there was radio silence. On another forum someone did forward to Hilton and the feedback was their were also working on a 500+ page manual but when directly asked at OSH this year, users were just pointed to the various older youtube videos, so there are mixed messages coming from them.

Feedback has been positive, long term "expert" users have learned a thing or two from the guide, I learned things while compiling the guide. Videos by themselves don't cut it and was a major reason why a lot of users abandoned WingX - if anything this might generate some renewed interest in the app.

400+ unique downloads would indicate that there was a need for this document - something that the company still after many years, feels is not required.

Android version is next !!

Version 1.3 of the guide is now published - which includes some of the new features introduced in version 8.6.10 of the WingX app.

Just downloaded and safely ensconced in iBooks on my iPad.

Thanks! Will review it shortly.

As an aside, since I renewed my CFI my WingXPro7 renewal this year was free! Great little perk for us beleaguered CFI's!
