UK goes to Drivers License medicals

It was not my intention to so imply. I've edited my original post to clarify.
The opinions posted are those of one CFI, and do not necessarily represent the FAA or its lawyers.

Anyone who can afford to fly can afford to pay for their own health insurance. I doubt there are any people receiving subsidies from Obamacare who are also aircraft owners or even renters.

Probably.

In fact, almost certainly.

Which has nothing to do with what medical services are covered. Coverage is not based on financial need. Most people can afford birth control pills, for example.

But even that has nothing to do with my tongue-in-cheek suggestion for a strategy to compel the FAA.

SportPilot wrote:obamacare has nothing to do with Medicare. If you are not on Medicare I would think you make to much to receive subsidies but people do know how to hide assets and income.
I'm on Medicare. The subsidy is for Karen's Bronze Plan with its $6,300 deductible. Brings the rate from about $550 to about $320.

As an aside, had an unexpected capital gain in 2015, so we may get hammered for taking what turned out to be an "unearned" subsidy for 2015. It gets complicated.

Oh, and people who know me know I'm a "by the book" kinda guy - no assets or income hidden from anyone.

Flight physicals per se aren't covered un the National Health Care system in UK. If you go to your GP (regular doctor) for a physical that's one thing. Just like the PBOR2 proposal actually. If you need an AME it's fee based. Professional pilots have to go to CAA in London for airman medicals which are expensive.
