Wow. Didn't realize it was an explosive topic. I wish I recd this level of response to my other posts!

There are no LSA to rent within 30 min of my home. I have small kids, so even an hour R/T driving is a stress, and that's before you pre flight etc.

With the PPL I flew at night when the wife and kids were asleep. Not an option right now.

How do you go about finding partners to buy an LSA with? I'm not hanging out at the airport. Thoughts? It's my one love. I was crushed to let the medical lapse. I've been way down since. I'd hate to have to wait until the kids are grown, because I might not be here and it would be cool to fly with them now and I do t want them to remember dad was a miserable jerk. Thoughts?

Any dad has to accept the reality that at some point in their teenage years, your kids will think you were a miserable jerk. Relax - they'll get over it! Meanwhile, spend whatever time you can with them, whether it's flying, or some activity they enjoy. Trust me, they grow up REALLY fast.

Real quickly, step 1 might be to put your location in your profile.

Other than that, maybe a simple flyer you could post at airports within a reasonable radius?

Agree with Eddie. Put your location in your profile. Join multiple type specific forums and let it be known you're looking for a partner or club or whatever in your area. Check out AOPA's club finder. It's been a while since was there, but they had a message board where individuals could find each other as well. Don't forget that some vintage aircraft are also LSA so you might find a nice Taylorcraft or Cub or Champ owner interested in forming a partnership.

I'm kind of in your boat, too. My youngest just celebrated his 6th birthday a couple after I had my 52d. The ticking clock is getting louder and louder.

I waited over 30 years to get back in the left seat - don't repeat my mistake! Several of us on the forum have either just recently purchased or are in the pre-purchase stage on an LSA. We will be happy to share our thoughts and process. And +1 on posting your location ... I recommend starting a thread in the "Introduce Yourself" forum ... Works great!
