Garmin G5?

Post by MackAttack »

This looks like a very capable little unit ... any thoughts? I think it's pretty new ... not on the optional equipment lists for the aircraft I'm considering but could be added later, I assume. It could function as a good multi-gauge backup including a backup AHRS/ADHRS for a G3X system ...

Hope I inserted the URL correctly ...

Cheers!

Don't assume. No modification of any kind can be made to any SLSA without an explicit Letter of Authorization from the aircraft manufacturer. Finding out which manufacturers will cooperate in issuing LoAs may play into your selection process.

I agree and understand about the SLSA LOA process; my assumption was more about the mechanics of it. Thanks for clarifying!

I do intend to ask about it as a potential custom add ...

I think that the G5 is a great innovation in a small package. Just one more reason to like the LSA world. Choices!

That little unit is flipping awesome and would make a great companion next to a G3X touch. There's a nice little spot for it just to the left on the panel. :D

Tecnam has been very responsive to LOAs as long as they are reasonable and not a safety concern

I see no concen with this one

I don't think responsive would be the right word to use, maybe receptive would be a better choice. I've had a customers airplane sitting in the shop waiting on a LOA from Tecnam for a Tanis engine preheater install. This coming Tuesday will be three weeks. While this is a tecnam issue, to my customer, it reflects poorly on me.
