I am sure it was intended to be a introductory trainer. Early in the design phase Cessna was using a Rotax engine in their prototype. Pressure was applied by their dealers to change to the Continental. I know this form speaking with a dealer at the time. The reasoning was not to make the transition from the 162 to the 172 easier. It was the simple fact that the dealers knew nothing about the Rotax engines and didn't want to have the need to retrain their maintenance people.HAPPYDAN wrote: Just a guess, here, but the operating parameters between the 162 and 172 are quite similar. My guess is the 162 was to be an introductory trainer, and encourage the new pilot to "move up the line" to a more capable (and more popular) aircraft.

Once you open a pdf on an iPad or iPhone and you should see this option:SportPilot wrote:
The easiest way I have found to get PDF files into iBooks is to save them to Dropbox, then download from Dropbox to iBooks.
Seems to save a step, is all.

For me, it would be an easy decision. No matter how much one loves a plane, it's difficult to justify owning it if dealer or manufacturer support and parts availability are uncertain.SportPilot wrote:If I could buy a used SkyCatcher or used RV12 for the same price, it would be a difficult decision.

Isn't it wonderful to have 20/20 uncorrected distant vision? I love my interoccular lens implants - for the first time in over 50 years, I was no longer looking at the world through the bottom of coke bottles. My wife calls them my Borg eyes, and says when they catch the light just right, they look something other than human...SportPilot wrote:cataract surgery on both eyes. I had to wait for my eyes to heal so I could see again. I now have 20/20 vision for the first time in about 40 years. I have to wear reading glasses, so I ordered a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses with progressive bifocal lenses. They are great.

Either do I. That was a screenshot I found via Google.SportPilot wrote:I don't have/use dlink.
When I open a pdf in Safari, it looks like this:
I just took that screen shot. Look at the upper right under the"tabs" bar. Once it opens in iBooks, it's stored there, and can be put in a user-defined library and/or renamed.
Does that help?

Also, most apps have that little square with the arrow on the upper right. One of those options is also to save into iBooks.
Just trying to save you the Dropbox step. If it works for you, have at it!

Re: Dealer Network vs. Factory Direct Sales
The writing was on the wall at Cessna a couple of years ago regarding dealers.
I spoke with one about getting one of the last units of brand new SkyCatchers from Cessna. The dealer was offering a package including all the options and mods at a great discount. It was starting to look like a go until he got a call back from Cessna HQ that the SkyCatcher was done. End of discussion.
The dealership seemed to be on a totally different page which is a shame.
Still can't figure why Cessna, once the world's biggest producer of light aircraft, couldn't produce a viable airplane in the sport flying market. Instead we have numerous models and manufacturers from around the world that can.

It's a great point. I think Cessna may have too much administrative infrastructure to make a decision.
