Maybe it was done before with simulated weight and then done again with actual people for publicity. It certainly makes the case for a stable aircraft.

Maybe so, but I thought it was billed as a "flight test".designrs wrote:Maybe it was done before with simulated weight and then done again with actual people for publicity. It certainly makes the case for a stable aircraft.
I'm sure they were all willing...but that doesn't make it smart.

My reaction to that video was "They're doing WHAT?" followed by "Huh, that thing is pretty darn stable."
Dangerous or not (and who knows if they had a BRS, personal parachutes, etc.), it certainly is a nice piece of advertising.
If I have $750,000 to burn and am in the market for a high-performance 4-seater, I'm going to want to see the SR-22 equivalent...

Interesting comparison, considering that the SR-22 is apparently not spin recoverable.chavycha wrote:If I have $750,000 to burn and am in the market for a high-performance 4-seater, I'm going to want to see the SR-22 equivalent...
Getting off topic here, but another high-performance 4-seater is the Vans RV-10... with 200 MPH cruise. Yeah baby!
Re: Spin Training!
It is my understanding in talks with someone who worked with BRS on the Cirrus project that the airplane will recover from a spin just fine. It was simply cheaper to certify with the BRS and prohibit spins instead of doing all the requires spin flight testing. In my opinion I find it hard to believe that the airplane could pass all the other required FAA flight testing and not be spin recoverable.designrs wrote:Interesting comparison, considering that the SR-22 is apparently not spin recoverable.chavycha wrote:If I have $750,000 to burn and am in the market for a high-performance 4-seater, I'm going to want to see the SR-22 equivalent...

What 3Dreaming said.
And the Cirrus has been spin certified in other countries.
Some rumors just won't die!
