Bay Area LSA rental?

Post by Hambone »

I'll be spending a few days in San Francisco after a week's taildragger and backcountry training in Boise.

Any recommendations for LSA rentals in the Bay Area?

Thanks in anticipation!

There is a savage cub in San Jose I flew with an instructor. I will have to look it up where and who has it.

Tradewinds Aviation at KHRV in San Jose have a Remos GX and Remos G-3. I have flown the GX.

Ham, who are you training with in Boise? Stick & Rudder? A local CFI? Regardless, a review of your training experience afterwards would certainly be welcome! And PM me if you need any local info. Our Volunteer Coordinator is based in Boise.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi Jack!

Yes, it's a week with Stick & Rudder, which I'm really looking forward to. I'm then off to see my daughter in San Francisco for 4 days, hence the request for a Bay Area rental to take her flying.

I'll be sure to report on the training!

Have fun at Stick & Rudder, I have gone up twice. May of 2014 Paul Leaderbrand did my Tail Wheel endorsement & some back country flying with me. Then in August 2014 I flew my Kitfox up and had it converted to a Tail Dragger, and I got current with Preston Riley., prior to flying back to Texas. They are both excellent instructors.

Hi Paul

I had a really good time flying with Stick and Rudder. I didn't have enough time to get my tailwheel endorsement, so I plan on going back at some point in the future.

I also flew with Preston. I can't say enough good things about his enthusiasm, professionalism, friendliness and instructional ability.

An hour and a half drive down south is Watsonville where the Tecnam people are based. I flew with them when I was on vacation in the area.
