RV-12 Expo

Post by newamiga »

I am out here in Sunriver Oregon for the RV-12 Expo. What a great event. There are supposed to be over 150 builders, and S-LSA owners here. I think that is probably an accurate number. I attended a day long class on the Rotax 912 yesterday by Brian and Carol Carpenter from Rainbow Aviation. It was a very useful class. Today there were sessions on fiberglass work for the layup on the canopy as well as the wheel pants and engine cowling and other fiberglass pieces. There were a couple sessions related to the S-LSA as well today. There are more great sessions on the docket for tomorrow as well as a dinner with Van himself speaking. They had a beautiful S-LSA model parked right outside the meeting center today. It turns out it is for sale. There were several people here at the show asking about it. I wouldn't be surprised if it sold before the end of the expo.

Some very interesting numbers from today.. they expect to have 50 S-LSA's built by this summer and out the door. They are currently at a run rate of 3 per month and are ramping up to 4 per month. In today's market, those numbers sound pretty good to me.

The only downside of the event is that weather precluded me flying my own Gobosh out here to the expo.
