I understand that this is the Sport Pilot Talk Forum but this is “Hanger Talk” so I would like to ask this question. How many people here have considered a self launching Motor Glider?
Glider ratings like LSA’s do not require a medical and you can fly at night. Motor Gliders have a higher gross weight limit but most of that goes into the long wings. They can have adjustable props and retractable gear. You can even fly IFR if the plane is equipped for it and you have the rating. They can also fly higher and sometimes faster. I don’t think they are very practical for cross country. Taxi, parking and tie down could present problems at some airports. What do you think? Is there anyone here with experience in Motor Gliders?

Excellent Point Thanks for the Info
I have been researching piloting a plane versus a glider and just came across the Motor Glider option via the Lambada LSA. The Lambada also tested well at the NASA PAV contest.
The Motor Glider option seems to have many advantages and I will be using the links you provided in my research.
Thanks
