I have a "regular" PPL certificate and fly a 172. My observation haev been that whenever a light sport aircraft comes to my airport, other pilots and the linemen view it the same as any other aircraft. They seem to view the sport pilots the same as private pilots. In fact on many occasions they've remarked on how much more responsive and maneuverable those planes seem to be - and maybe more fun - compared to what we fly. And that is my personal view too.
