Re: BushCat LSA

Thanks for the reply yeah I've watched BushCat Tom quite a bit lol. He's pretty quirky to a point of distraction at times but he does seem to be the only person that uploads videos about BushCats on a regular basis. This guy is flying a taildragger version and pretty regularly uploads Bushcat relat...

Re: Operating temperatures for Rotax 912 ULS

This Sunday I was flying in my Sting with OAT being close to 70 .
A longish climb out resulted in around 215F CHT , later stabilizing to about 205F or so.

This is all normal for me since I start noticing CHTs in yellow and need to start managing my climb outs somewhere above 85F OAT.

Re: Light Sport Weight Limit

Actually, Government works for us. I want what I want. I am not thankful that government finally succumbed to common sense and “allowed” me my half full glass. I want my full glass. Right... I find this mindset of “ just be happy you were allowed to “ actually quite depressing and exemplifying how ...

UL 94 shortage

I mainly fly on 91 non-ethanol I get from a nearby place but now and then I fill up with UL 94 which used to be available at 3 airports within 30 minutes flight from my place. All 3 airports now have their UL 94 pumps placated with “UL 94 not available” - wonder if this is coincidence or some kind o...

... As mentioned, in 2004 things were different and those who made the rules didn't have a crystal ball to know what the future would be like for the LSA market. Since you only needed a minimum of 20 hours to be a pilot the committees who made the rules had safety in mind first and foremost. A miss...

Re: SUN N FUN 2021

I mostly patronized Whelen - got a beacon and a landing lighjt. I wanted the beacon for a long time and the price just goes up. The show price was better than normal Spruce price. And the landing light died on the way up there. I'm pretty sure I bought the last one of each. Unfortunately, my vacuum...

Re: GTOW

In the US my Tecnam P92 Eaglet as an LSA has a max gross weight of 1320 pounds (600 Kilograms). I've been told that in the EU the same plane has a higher weight limit. Is this true? If yes, does anyone know what it is? Not sure about this particular plane but there are quite a few LSAs out there wi...

I'm hoping to get there Thursday just for the day. I get my second Pfizer shot Wednesday (in 2 days) and hope I feel up to it for a trip over on Thursday to see "what's new". I'll be the one wearing a mask. While you at it , a good quality thurible wouldn't hurt either ... :-) a...

Re: 2021 Sun-n-Fun is Scheduled for April 13-18, 2021

With just about every YouTube flying video being about STOL-ish attempts at landing at a mountain or a river sandbar or whatever , I think it actually would be refreshing to see a proper landing on a honest to God, 3000 feet long concrete runway ..

Re: What speed do you taxi at?

10-15 mph max ( based on my GPS ground speed ), anything above that feels wrong - our planes are just clumsy beasts on the ground and there is no way around that.

Re: Electric LSA

Electric Aircraft are the future. There are quite a few electric aircraft in development and the Pipistrel Alpha Electric was recently certified for use. An American company, Bye Aerospace, is well on the way to getting its 2 seat trainer FAA certified with a three hour range and a four place aircr...
