Re: Powered Parachute endorsement for B,C,D airspace

…the requirement (for example) that the pilot do three takeoffs and full stop landings at a towered airport… What’s interesting is that the regulation doesn’t say “the pilot must make these landings”. The regulation only says that the training must include “Operations at airports with an operating ...

Re: Powered Parachute endorsement for B,C,D airspace

Must be qualified to “fly” it?? Can’t cite a regulation? Let’s not get into interpreting regulations now. The airspace regulation 61.325 doesn’t say one has to be PIC at all. I would argue that yea, a PPC person can get this instruction in any aircraft. This is no different than a sport pilot gettin...

Re: Private Pilot to Sport Pilot

You only need a flight review. You’re limited to the privileges and limitations of sport pilot. That’s it.

Re: CFI-S Flight review

I’m not sure 61.413 says no. I think it depends on how you interpret the word “or” in the sentence. We had this conversation before in the older topic I provided a link to.

Re: CFI-S Flight review

In this thread: https://sportpilottalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1486&p=8112&hilit=subpart+k+flight+review#p8120 You did agree that a flight review could be done by any instructor. Where's this FAA interpretation letter that says differently? Can't imagine why not. A flight review is a fl...

Re: CFI-S Flight review

So call them and get the real answer No need to, Bob. Somebody already did, 11 years ago, and the quoted Letter of Interpretation (which I rather like) is the real answer. I'm just pointing out that the FARs don't always agree with the rules. Ok, so post that letter. I havent seen it Here's where a...

Re: CFI-S Flight review

That's great, Bob (and I'm sure a Letter of Interpretation from AFS-610 is legally binding). Unfortunately, it contradicts the FAR, which should really have been amended - but I wouldn't hold your breath for that. Yea yea yea, I know, you'll point to 61.413. Doesn't a private pilot already have spo...

Re: CFI-S Flight review

Whoah! Yes, a CFI-S *CAN* give a flight review to a private pilot, as long as it's done in an LSA. Remember, private pilots DO have sport pilot privileges already. This was answered years ago by AFS-610. Here's their comment: Can a subpart-K flight instructor (sport pilot instructor) give a private ...

Re: What were LSA "sets" used for regarding 61.319 and 61.323?

Back then, there were 8 sets for airplane. 4 “slow” ones and 4 “fast” ones. Land, sea, etc.

Thanks for the updates on this!

I wonder what the issue was when law enforcement showed up and demanded the mechanic leave the hangar?

Re: Deal or not?

Don’t know the regulation or if there even is one. The DAR doing my conversion of SLSA to ELSA Made it very clear that he would be checking the logs for a current condition inspection and it was required. Dave I think you have a case to ask him to prove that. FAA ORder 8130.2J doesn't mention that ...

Re: Deal or not?

I should probably know this, but I don't... what regulation mandates that the plane have a current annual before being allowed to be converted?

It’s An experimental, so by definition you can.
