Around my own field, no problem, "This is Tecnam BRAVO Light Sport 649BV" It flies there almost every day, but elsewhere the controllers don't understand what it is, so I just tell them it looks like a 150. Then in the pattern at Oakland, I hear them referring to me as a Cessna when they a...

Student Pilot License

As a PPL student pilot you get a student pilot license when you get your medical.

As a Sport Pilot you don't need the medical, so do you need a student pilot license and if so, where do you get it?

I seem to remember there as an aerobatic ultralite biplane which you could fly after training of course, but without any license--scary stuff.

This may have something to do with Tecnam's recent puchase of an S-LSA manufacturer in Spain, which was apparently purchased for their additional capacity and capability with composites.

Rotax 912 icing

Since I have a 912 ULS which doesn't have provision for carb heat, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with 912 carb icing and also if there is a reason no carb heat is needed or provided (if that is the case).

Thanks

jbesper, Some of the characteristics I think you need to consider: View--High wing is probably better. The Sky Arrow is particularly good in this area, but it has other issues. Most of the high wings would rank highly, perhaps the AEROPRAKT A22 Valor may be best in this particular characteristic. Co...

I am an LSA enthusiast but there are some conventionally certified aircraft that cost very little more to buy or operate and may be easier to insure, specifically the Liberty Aerosapce XL2 and AMD CH2000.

There are many good deals on used CH2000s.

My last refers only to the Sky Arrow 600 light sport only. I haven't been tracking registration of the certified version of the Sky Arrow.

Don't know, but they haven't registered a new one in the US in about 9 months. The total FAA registration has stood at 21 for a long time.

tadel001,

Sounds like you have one of the largest light sport operations and one of the least expensive.

Do you own all your aircraft?
