Re: Terrafugia Transition for real this time?

Way too many compromises just to get "flying car" bragging rights IMHO.

Re: Comparing S-LSA to E-LSA insurance rates

Clearly a negligible increase, Stan. But, what's your insurance up to now? Paul, the latest (May, 2020) was $1,415. No claims, no accidents, incidents, or pilot deviations ever. I think being 78 years old may have something to do with the increase. I'm a little over a year from being 80 and will pr...

Re: Fountain pens in an aircraft?

I use a Fisher Space Pen while flying. It always writes (unless it runs out of ink) and has never leaked.

Congratulations, Paul!!!

That's totally awesome. Just looking at it makes me want to run out and get a tailwheel endorsement. :D

Welcome, Will; that sounds like a great plan.

There are several Chicago area members on here as well as members who hold CFI-S and LSRM certificates.

Re: Comparing S-LSA to E-LSA insurance rates

I converted my Zodiac from S-LSA to E-LSA in November, 2016. Same insurer, same coverage, annual premium before and after:

Before converting: $826

After converting: $924

Brand new 5x optical zoom for $87 sounds like a no brainer. I'm interested in a PIREP after you've had a chance to use it.

Re: There's so much smoke here in California!

Well , both high winds and power lines have been there for many, many decades - how come this problem now requires rolling blackouts ? Politics are verboten here, so I won't get into what I believe are all the reasons, but one reason that's not too political is the blatant negligence of PG&E to...

Re: There's so much smoke here in California!

Yesterday in the San Francisco Bay Area the sky was orange and mid-day looked more like sunset; visibility was maybe a mile. Ash from the fires covered my car so it looked like a ghost. I had parked in my driveway instead of my garage because of a planned 32 hour long power outage by Pacific Gas &am...

Re: Point & Shoot Camera

That is more than I am willing to pay and is too feature-rich for me. Please tell me more about the Casio. The Casio was a 5 Megapixel Exilim EX-Z55 with a 3x optical zoom. Sadly, Casio got out of the digital camera business so the only ones I can find online are used but priced in the $50 - $100 r...

Re: Point & Shoot Camera

Yes, but it's not cheap and quite a bit more versatile than the cheapies. I replaced a stolen Casio point-and-shoot with a Sony DSC-HX-80. It's now my "go to" camera for just about everything. 30x optical zoom, Zeiss lens, 21 Megapixels. Price is around $370. HD video. https://www.dpreview...

Re: Sport Pilot Initial Need?

The only circumstance when you'd need to get an FAA medical certificate to fly exercising the privileges of a sport pilot is if you previously applied for an FAA medical certificate and had your most recent FAA medical certificate or application denied, revoked, withdrawn, or suspended by the FAA. I...
