Re: MOSAIC

rcpilot I'm in the same boat - won't come soon enough. Looks like the FAA is trying to do too much all at once, and my concern is that will ultimately sink the entire effort and we'll all be left with a big nothing burger. Looks like LSA is still the only game in town for those of us who can't wait ...

Re: Pirep: Cessna 162 Skycatcher

Thanks for the PIREP Paul. Around 10 years ago, I was visiting a local airfield and noticed two Skycatchers asitting on the flightline at a local flight training school. When I inquired about them, I was informed that they didn't fly much because they were very limited in their crosswind handling ca...

Seeking Paradise P-1 Experience

Hello everyone, I'm currently considering a used Paradise P-1 S-LSA. Does anyone have any experience with this aircraft - especially handling qualities (it's supposed to be similar to a Cessna 150 and the Texas Aircraft Colt S-LSA but I haven't been able to fly it yet myself), and any unusual or pro...

Re: Adding a Parachute to an Evektor SportStar or Czech Sport Cruiser

Another reason for choosing an Evektor SportsStar - Dr. Shuch knows it well as he used to operate one in his flight school, and he offers pre-purchase log and inspection services (which I would definitely insist on), plus one can still communicate with the factory (e.g., if I wanted to modify anythi...

Re: Adding a Parachute to an Evektor SportStar or Czech Sport Cruiser

Yup, so far I've only been able to find a few SportCruisers with factory chutes but as would be expected they are late models and pricey.
I'd prefer an Evektor as they are still a going concern, but so far I haven't found any used ones with a chute.

Re: Adding a Parachute to an Evektor SportStar or Czech Sport Cruiser

Thanks Dave. I gave Steve a call and he said that they don't come from the factory ready to have a chute installed, so with that also being the case with the SportCruiser I'm batting 0 for 2.

Re: Adding a Parachute to an Evektor SportStar or Czech Sport Cruiser

Good point thanks Shawn. I was poking around the BRS Aerospace website and it appears they offer a retrofit for the PiperSporrt which is a Czech Sport Cruiser so I'm going to write to them. Does anyone know if an Evektor SportStar or Harmony can be retrofitted with a whole airframe chute? BRS does't...

Adding a Parachute to an Evektor SportStar or Czech Sport Cruiser

Most of the Evektor SportStars and Czech Sport Cruisers that I see on the used market don't have a whole-airframe parachute, and the reason cited by several owners is that it takes up 40 lbs useful load. Since I'm fit and trim, I'd rather have the chute, so I'm wondering who is qualified to install ...

Rotax Evolution as it Relates to Lack-of-Use Issues

Greetings everyone, I'm still keeping my eye on the used S-LSA market and have noticed a trend that some aircraft barely have 100 hours (and some others only have 200-300 hours) that are under 10 years old, and it makes me wonder if the standard 100 HP dual-carb Rotax engines have any known problems...

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market

Jetcat3 - What do you view as the SportCruiser's shortcomings (other than the current bankruptcy situation of the manufacturer)? If they get kicked around in turbulence more than a Cessna 150/152 I don't think that would be much fun (I preferred the ride in a Cessna 172/ Skyhawk over the 150/152 in ...

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market

So it's decision time. I've identified a fairly recent S-LSA (SportCruiser) with all of the "bells and whistles" but it's a bit north of $100k. For less than half of that, I could get a considerably older Beech Sundowner. Also in the plus column for the S-LSA is that it's a lot newer airfr...

Re: Effect of Czech Sport Aircraft Bankruptcy on Support for US SportCruiser SLSAs

Thanks so much for your replies to my post Warmi and ShawnM. My specific concern with the aircraft that I'm looking at is that the owner said that he hasn't kept up with the factory Service Bulletins (SBs). My broader concern about this aircraft in general is that if the factory is no longer a going...

Effect of Czech Sport Aircraft Bankruptcy on Support for US SportCruiser SLSAs

I'm thinking about buying a used Czech Sport Cruiser but am concerned about the effect of the bankruptcy of Czech Sport Aircraft (CSA) as it relates to factory support, as I'm not sure if there is any remaining US support. I've heard from some that the solution is to convert to E-LSA, but what about...

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market

Thanks Paul - I was wondering what happened to DCT. Shawn - Thanks for the info on the Sebastian FL operation. They sold one of their demos up here near me a few months ago. I wonder how much longer the existing SportCruiser fleet will be supported if the bankruptcy situation with the parent company...

Re: Status of US S-LSA Market

Thanks for the updates! I prefer a metal S-LSA bird with an established track record like the SportCruiser and was considering the Evektor Harmony but in recent communications with the factory it sounds like parts support is factory direct and I strongly prefer a US presence for training and post-sa...
