Re: Skyarrow 600
Well... I've got 800+ hours over about 14 years in the Sky Arrow LSA 600... Very happy with the airplane. A few quirks: The voltage regulator/regulator is mounted in an almost impossible to get at place, and tends to overheat and fail. The connections to it are spade connectors which tend to get loo...

Re: Rotax 912ULS starter sprag clutch...
The engine access on the Sky Arrow to that area may be a bit tight, but it would be good news if we don't have to send the engine anywhere.
Thanks, Pete

Re: Rotax 912ULS starter sprag clutch...
Thanks, David -- Looks like my sprag clutch is indeed the problem.
Were you able to do the repair yourself or have it done locally, or did you have to send in the engine?
Pete

Rotax 912ULS starter sprag clutch...
I have a Rotax 912ULS in a Sky Arrow SLSA, which shows signs of a slipping starter sprag clutch on cold starts. It fires once, then if the starter is held in I can hear the starter turning, but the engine is not turning. If very well pre-heated, or on a hot start it starts more or less normally. (80...

Re: Why Suck Low Limits
20 or 30 years ago you could get 1,000,000 passenger limits for only a small added charge. No more. Rumor has it that a very high profile crash (which should never have happened) resulted in big insurance payouts and every company backing out of that market. Some years ago Loyds of London did offer ...

Re: My Sky Arrow ADSB solution
Eddy -- it would be very interesting to see how the GPS antenna does. I have 2 (actually 3 on the latest count) very cheap hobby GPS modules mounted in roughly similar locations and they all seem to work well. They also lock on to a position faster than the panel mounted Garmin. I'd guess that the t...

Re: My Sky Arrow ADSB solution
Backwards mounting should be no problem.
I have a white antenna in a similar position... covered it with black tape... since I didn't like the white reflection in the canopy.

Re: EGT probes for Rotax 912ULS?
I believe the EI and Aerospace Logic graphic displays want ungrounded probes. Also, the very easy to use thermocouple chips (MAX31850) need them.

EGT probes for Rotax 912ULS?
I'm setting up a 4 probe EGT system for a Rotax 912ULS. The display electronics require UNGROUNDED probes, which are a little less common. Two possible types are: 1) Aerospace Logic http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=200 or 2) Electronics International http...

Re: Elsa vs lsa
I found this link: https://www.aviationschoolsonline.com/faqs/power-curve-article.php Which shows a "power curve" probably similar to a typical LSA, as attached here Power curve.jpg It's been a long time since I was studying this sort of thing, so I could be all wrong. Ironically I find my...

Re: Elsa vs lsa
All else being equal, (which never happens) I believe power required goes up as the cube of speed. However, more power lets you fly higher... thinner air = less drag for a given speed = less power for a given TAS... sort of... the Rotax 912 seems to run a but rich at altitude, despite it's auto mixt...
