Re: Who is excited about the new Flight Simulator?

I installed FS 2020 on the 18th and was very disappointed that my graphics card (GeForce GTX 1050 TI - 4 GB) was terrible - even running it in the lowest settings. I tried boosting the clock speed, but that just caused it to crash the program. I ordered a new XFX Radeon Rx 950 Fatboy with 8GB and in...

Fuel drain valve failure

Today as I was going through my preflight checklist, the fuel tank drain valve failed on my left wing tank. When I inserted the test cup, the innards of the valve came apart inside the tank and the gas poured out of the tank. Fortunately I was at my home airport and had gas cans and funnels to catch...

Re: Insurance rate shocker

I don't know. Paul. Are you old?
72, but don't tell anybody.... I started lessons at 69 and passed my check-ride at 70. Never too late to start something new.

Re: Amps drop on cross-country flight

Thanks Shawn and Paul for the info. I'll get some dielectric grease and hope the problem never appears again.

Re: Hydrolic lock on 912 ULS

I had to leave my plane up north for the winter because of weather...and then the virus came to town. We had to stay away longer then we planned.

I must have forgot how to spell while we were sheltered-in-place. Hydrolic = Hydraulic

Thanks for all the comments.

Re: Hydrolic lock on 912 ULS

I did burp the engine after my last flight 8 months ago. I was planning on a flight from Washington to Southern California, but the weather did not cooperate. This issue actually happened in mid June and I removed all spark plugs and let the oil drain out. It only entered the front left cylinder wit...

Hydrolic lock on 912 ULS

After 8 months of not flying my Sirius TL 3000, I was doing my preflight and found I was unable to rotate the prop to burp the 912 ULS. After removing the spark plugs, I found two cylinders full of oil.

Coments appreciated.

Amps drop on cross-country flight

I made my longest cross-country flight in my Sirius TL-3000 last week. Everything went fine until about 5 hours into the flight the amps dropped to 1 or 2 amps. It corrected itself after a minute or two and then did it again 2 or more times. It only lasted a total of 4 or 5 minutes and was then fine...

Re: Burping the Rotax

Thank you so much for all of your replies. I'm trying to come to a conclusion with all of this information. Here's my question: If I'm confident that there is sufficient oil in my airplane, does it do any damage by not burping the Rotax. I'm concerned that maybe it needs to have some pre-circulation...

Burping the Rotax

My procedure to check the oil level includes checking it when I finish a flight. When I arrive for another flight in a day or two, is it necessary to burp the Rotax and check it again? If there is no oil leaking, it should be good to go, correct? I'm wondering if it is necessary or can I just crank ...

Re: Sirius TL-3000 wing removal at 200 hour intervals

Thank you everyone for your replies.

My A&P said he thought it would be an all day job to do the inspection. It appears not to be the case. Does anyone have an estimate of the time involved?

His concern was creating unnecessary wear-and-tear on the parts involved.

Sirius TL-3000 wing removal at 200 hour intervals

I own a 2016 Sirius TL-3000 and I am questioning the wisdom (or need) of the wing inspection documented by TL-Ultralight. I just had my annual (185 hours) and discussed the inspection listed by the manufacturer. My A&P and he thinks it is nuts. His take is - why cause a problem when none exists....
