Re: Were you comfortable explaining to your fellow pilots you became a sport pilot because of a medical reason?

Here in Central FL I've been lucky.  Joined a flying club with an LSA (its only aircraft) and a couple CFIs. The club is at an airfield 15 minutes from home.  On the same airfield is also a flight school with an LSA and only a few miles further away is another flight school with two LSAs (one a tai...

Re: Were you comfortable explaining to your fellow pilots you became a sport pilot because of a medical reason?

For the young person with aviation career goals, couldn't agree more.  For the young person without aviation career goals but having a hobbyist interest in aviation, that's another story.  There's nothing wrong with beginning with Sport Pilot training and then letting the person's enthusiam (or lack...

Re: Were you comfortable explaining to your fellow pilots you became a sport pilot because of a medical reason?

Everyone's goals are different, so the "one size fits all - go PPL" approach doesn't satisfy.   Nor does the "in the end it's more economical to...." logic apply to everyone.  The idea that Sport Pilot could be "Ticket #1" with PPL as "Ticket #2" and so forth ...

Re: "...other evidence..."

The question about "logbook ot other evidence" question intrigued me as well.  Sooner or later, "stuff" happens and I expect something may/will happen to my logbook. My solution was to download the "My Flightbook" app and make duplicate log entries in it as well. It als...

Re: SP Knowledge Test cost/length - a little confusion?

I took the test a couple weeks ago. First thing I did was to call the CATS toll-free phone number. They arranged the test appointment time during the call. During the call they took my ID info and the credit-card payment. They were ready to take EAA or AOPA (my choice) at this time for the discount....

Re: Is sport aviation dying

I don't think Sport Pilot program is dying, but it could surely use better marketing and publicity. When was the last time anyone saw a prime time TV commercial touting the fun of flying and how being able to do so is more attainable now than ever?   Almost all SP advertising is in aviation magazine...
