I've always found good prices and fast service from: airplaneoil.com
I haven't bought any AS Sport Plus 4 from them in a year so I don't know if they currently have any in stock.

Re: Oil all over the hangar floor...
As 3Dreaming noted above if you pour the new oil into the tank too fast it will overflow the neck and make a real mess. You need to have an appropriately-sized outlet on the funnel or carefully monitor/control the flow of oil into the tank so as not to overflow the neck.

Re: Shades vs hangars and maintenance
Shades are obviously better than open tie-downs but not nearly as good as enclosed hangars. Some things to consider when using shade hangars: -- Aircraft get dirty in shades real fast -- lots of blowing dirt but no cleansing rain (rain in California -- HA!). -- Paint, windows, interior, and avionics...

Re: Logon Bug
Yes! The Logon process has changed recently. I now have to Logon every time I visit the site -- annoying. Never had to do that before.

Re: Partial power loss and running rough
I experienced a similar partial power loss issue during climb-out in my RV-12 / 912 ULS. My Skyview EMS data dump suggested the right-side carb. It turned out to be a small amount of contamination in the mogas. I disassembled and cleaned the carb as well as cleaned a small amount of jelly-like crud ...

Re: EGT?
Whenever I experience or hear of an issue with erratic or unusual sensor indications my first (and cheapest) thought is to check the sensor's wiring -- usually a simple continuity check is adequate for troubleshooting purposes. Clean all of the associated terminal and connections. On some aircraft i...

Re: Torque Wrench
Some torque wrench observations: -- Some "click-type" torque wrenches have a very subtle "click" so be sure you can feel/hear it. -- Always unload or zero-out the wrench when you have finished using it for the day. And don't drop one! -- Small "beam-type" wrenches made ...

Re: Mogas refuelling best practices
I use a "jiggle siphon hose" to download the fuel from my 5 gallon containers into my RV-12 -- it works great and takes just over a minute. The container sits on a small temporary aluminum platform on top of the fuselage and the whole shebang is bonded to the airframe (and I also ground th...

Re: Mogas refuelling best practices
You should be concerned about the static charge aspect of refueling. Bonding of the fuel vessel to the airframe is more important than "grounding" to earth -- although including proper grounding is a good thing too. I installed a vent in my plastic container (see various videos on YouTube ...

Re: Has this ever happened to you?
I am curious -- why are the springs mentioned above factory-installed on the ROTAX/Bing carb? Could it be: 1) To provide some upward support to partially offset the hanging weight of the carb and its impact on the rubber socket?, 2) Alter/lower the frequency of carb vibration/resonance to reduce wea...

Re: EGT temp difference
This was a quote from Dynon technical support staff regarding installing only 2 EGT probes with their D120 equipment ... After consulting with the Rotax gurus over at Lockwood Aviation (and they in turn consulted with Rotax technical support), we learned that of all the things one can glean from EG...

Re: saf-air oil drain
I have the Curtiss quick oil drain on my RV-12's 912ULS. It's leaking a bit. I gather that Curtiss wants you to buy a whole new valve ($$) instead of replacing the inexpensive "O"-ring. Does anyone one out there know what size and where I could buy just the "O"-ring for the big C...

Re: saf-air oil drain
If you use the standard oil tank drain plug, just be careful to not over-tighten it when replacing it. Check the ROTAX maintenance manual for the correct torque value.
