Re: Part Time CFI Looking for A Better Way

I have not heard any issues with independent flight instruction at my home 'drome Check to see if your local airport has a document regarding "minimum standards for commercial operations". Typically these are written with specific language to prevent freelancing CFI work by imposing onero...

Is anyone in the desert southwest or southern CA interested in a LSA leaseback during the winter months?

We have pitiful winters here in the pacific northwest and planes tend to sit idle for months at a time. it makes much more sense to send a plane to the sunny southwest and rent on the 10 clear days we have between October and March. is anyone that lives in AZ, NV, NM or CA interested in a leaseback ...

Any LSA partnerships in Portland OR area?

Hello, I am a PP that appreciates the advantages in terms of modernness and efficiency of LSA. However, it seems that anyone that had a rental LSA in the Portland/Vancouver area has sold it off. I am really tired of flying old beater c-152/172s from the local FBOs so I need to move into ownership / ...

Re: TL3000 Sirius vs Tecnam P2008

Thank you for the information. this is exactly the sort of straight talk that helps everyone looking at the LSA and certified market make better decisions. Does TL have a plan to get you out of this mess or are you giving up trying to go through them and just take care of things on your own? Is the ...

Re: Airspace webinar 13 July 2016

Fellow pilots, On Wednesday evening 13 July 2016, 8 to 9:30 PM EDT, I am presenting a free online Airspace webinar. Here is the description: "Students and experienced pilots alike often find themselves challenged by the complexity of airspace definitions, limitations, and requirements. In this...

Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2

Hi; The full Senate has passed by unanimous consent the Pilot’s Bill of Rights 2, which will now go to the House for consideration before it can go to the president for a signature. Any thoughts on the impact to sport pilots and/or sport pilot instructors? Is it now worth going for a sport pilot CF...

Night flying a Rotax UL

I am certainly confused regarding night flying with a rotax UL engine. lets say i have a LSA with a rotax 914UL and purchase the aircraft upgraded with a night package. FAR 33 puts night and IFR in pretty much the same category saying that it requires a certified engine which would be the rotax 914F...

Re: TL3000 Sirius vs Tecnam P2008

I live in the pacific northwest. there is a p2008 up the road and tecnam is seeing if it is going to be anywhere out and about where i can go see it. it didn't sound like it was available for demo flights. If i decide to go with the tecnam over the sirius and push comes to shove, i may have to drop ...

Re: TL3000 Sirius vs Tecnam P2008

The best advice I can give you is to ACTUALLY FLY these aircraft you are considering. Numbers, reviews, statistics, articles, forum posts ... are only part of the equation. ........ Then I flew some planes. Lo and behold, I had definite preferences - they all fly differently. They all feel differen...

Re: TL3000 Sirius vs Tecnam P2008

There is a max empty weight the aircraft is allowed to weigh to sell as a SLSA. A formula involving engine horsepower, 2 passengers, etc. I would ask Tecnam about the legal formula, but I'm relatively certain it is not 925 lbs. EDIT: Clarified my point about weight being max empty weight. Ah--i did...

TL3000 Sirius vs Tecnam P2008

Hi everyone, i hope that there is room to continue the discussion on these two aircraft and i don't just get a bunch of eye-rolls. But i really need to tap into the collective wisdom of those that have gone before me. I am about to semi-retire and i have a lot of years of past flying to catch up on....
