Re: Experiences with VL3 SLSA?

I think you’ll find it tight for X/C flights depending on the size and weight of the occupants - two guys 200 lbs each will be cramped. One other thing, check the storage area behind the front seats, I remember limited storage space. I’d also check weight limitations in the storage area.
Good Luck!

Re: Ferry Pilot - Tecnam P2008T

Thanks for the replies! I’m curious about what the pilot feels is “too crazy”. … Probably related to never ending stories of scores of people being skinned, decapitated, burned , murdered with a chainsaw or some other terrible way ..and then left of rot on in the middle of a city square for everyon...

Re: Ferry Pilot - Tecnam P2008T

Thanks for the replies! I’m curious about what the pilot feels is “too crazy”. You need to find a port of entry in Mexico, paperwork for the local officials, approval, then you are free to travel the country. I found that at the point of entry airports you can usually find an”expeditor” for a small ...

Ferry Pilot - Tecnam P2008T

Hi I’m looking for an experienced pilot to ferry my plane from Danbury CT to Mexico. The plane has a Garmin Autopilot and Garmin screens. I’d do it myself but am getting to old for this journey. But for the record, I’ve done this flight in the past with another aircraft. Thank you Eric home phone 84...

Re: Experiences with VL3 SLSA?

I'm thinking about a VL3 aircraft. Does anyone here have any experiences with them especially for big guys going on long cross-country flights? I called a rep and was told I could expect 150 KTAS with the 914 UL engine at 5500 RPM at 8000 MSL even with fixed pitch prop and fixed landing gears, which...

Re: Rotax vs Tempest Oil Filter

With the Tempest oil filter I’m seeing at least a 15 degree jump in oil temps. Before installing the Tempest and using the Rotax, my oil temp was @180 and now with the Tempest it’s closer to 200 degrees. Don’t know if it really means anything, except that in my old plane a Cirrus, I used different o...

Re: Rotax vs Tempest Oil Filter

I just ordered Rotax Oil Filters. However after ordering curiosity got the best of me, I went to the Tempest Website and found the following information: Tempest Filter Specs - 914/912 Engine › Full can thickness of .019” › Base plate thickness of .100” › Burst pressure of 275 – 325 psi › Media conte...

Re: Rotax vs Tempest Oil Filter

Yes I read the tread after getting my oil changed. I hoped that Tempest had changed the composition of their oil filters in the last four years. Guess not!

Re: Rotax vs Tempest Oil Filter

Dump the Tempest. The bypass pressure is too low. The Rotax is 18-22 psi. The anti drain back membrane isn't soft enough either and will allow drainage. The new filters are out and were within a couple of weeks. Just change the filter and keep flying. Stay away from Tempest and Champion. If you hav...

I appreciate the education. I'm new to light sports aircraft, it's another world when compared to conventional aircraft.

Re: A question for Paul...

Thank you for responding so quickly! Yes, I have the Sensenich propeller. You suggest that I adjust my prop pitch to get 5000 to 5100 RPM static with the P2008. Is this something that a neophyte, like myself, can do without extensive training or skill? Does it require special tools? And lastly, if I...

Re: A question for Paul...

Hi Paul I have a Tecnam p2008 with a 914 Rotax. Currently my prop pitch is set at "4". The other P2008 owners seem to be getting more cruise speed with a "5" setting. The manager of US Tecnam (not an mechanic) has said my setting at "4" is just right. I will be flying i...

Kroger Sunshade and Tecnam Astore

Hi! I left the Cirrus World about four years ago. However to my surprise I got the flying bug again! I shopped and looked at all options. I ended up buying a Tecnam Astore which seems like a great way to reintroduce myself into the flying world once again. The only obvious problem with this aircraft...
