Re: A question for CFIs
The US Rec Pilot license may be valid up here, because it has the medical to go with it. If I have to go beyond SP, I may as well go for PP, as it is transferable here with a new Canadian medical and a check ride with Transport Canada. A SP cannot cross border fly because they want to see the medic...

Re: A question for CFIs
The reason I'm asking this is........ I'm an Amercan living in Ontario, but all my family is in Louisiana and Texas. My US passport would get me into a flight school and being of good health, I'm pretty sure I could pass a medical. But SP is all I'm interested in. The problem presented is that the S...

Re: A question for CFIs
Well, a night at the Holiday Inn should qualify you for about anything up to and including brain surgery .
Ok. Thanks. That is kinda the direction my thoughts were heading.

A question for CFIs
Does the FAA require VOR proficiency for a PP or SP? If not, do you, as CFIs, devote any time teaching this, as almost everything is GPS navigation now.
Thanks
Mike
Thanks

Re: Where do you service your aircraft?
I love a place where the practice of one upping someone else is NOT part of the routine. Me, too. But a cage match at the end to settle it once and for all would certainly liven things up! Haha. I'm on too many of those kinds of sites. Laid back is more my thing. I'm no expert or probably not even ...

Re: Sport Pilot or Private Pilot?
Ok. That one sure slipped by me. I lived in the US till 2000. SP came into existence in 2004 I think. It's all different up here. Everyone is licensed. UL up to ATP. But plane weight limits are more generous here. 25 hours to get Rec License here and single place planes up to certain weights (Sonex ...

Re: Sport Pilot or Private Pilot?
I'm confused (not unusual). What is the Rec Pilot rating down in the US? I thought it was SP and the next up was PP. Is there an advantage to get the RP certificate and not get the PP license other than not having to take the medical?

Hi from Canada
Hi ladies and gents. I'm in Ontario and just getting back into aviation after a long hiatus. I see most of you guys are either CFIs or Sport Pilots. I'll probably try to certify up here as a rec pilot (SP in the US) as there is really no need to pursue a PP rating. All I need is VFR. It seems like t...
