Re: Buying/owning a used Zenith 601/650 with no mechanical knowledge?

I purchased an AMD Factory built 610XLB in 2014 with 400 hours on it, I almost immediately switched it to a ELSA from a SLSA so I can do my own condition inspections with the two day course offered by Rainbow aviation. It was a terrific buy, new price was $100K, as the reputation of the aircraft was...

Re: Bought an Ercoupe

Very nice Ercoupe, lots of luck with it. I had a 1946 415C, N415DK, fully restored, rag wing. Loved it, but when I moved from NY to Florida I couldn't find a hangar so I had to part with it, broke my heart. I fly a 601XLB now. Glass panel, autopilot, modern avionics. Its a factory built SLSA AMD, th...

Re: Cheapest ADS B you will ever find!!!

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Your transmitter is set to an improper code, I believe its SIL1, which identifies it as a portable non copying non WASS gps. It needs to be set to SIL3 This will be picked up by the FAA and a letter will be issued to you noting it is not compliant and further ...

Re: Cheapest ADS B you will ever find!!!

all the Skyguards have been sold.
I don't believe the skyward pictured by designrs is able to comply with the current requirements, so its little more than a ADS B receiver or a paperweight.
but you can verify its status with Skyguard.

Re: Cheapest ADS B you will ever find!!!

No its not a portable.
It meets the specs for certified but it is not certified, thats why its only for an experimental.
When you run a FAA test its listed on the FAA site as a Skyguard vision pro.
I've had mine for about 3 years. I purchased these to have a back up in case of a problem.

Cheapest ADS B you will ever find!!!

There is a company on Barnstormers selling used Skyguard ADS B in and out UAT, that are usable on experimental aircraft. He claims he had 15 in Cessna 150's and when they were never type accepted for certified aircraft he pulled them out. I bought two for $100. each, plus shipping. I contacted Don a...

BFR during covid?

My BFR was due 12/31/2020, I know it's now just called a flight review. I know the FAA extended it two months to 1/31/2021 due to covid concerns. So now it's coming up again and the end of the month, and I am thinking what to do. 1-Risk it and take the flight review? I am also risking the health of ...

Dynon D180 wanted

My D180 is in the shop, I would be interested in purchasing a back up unit.
Anyone have one left over from an upgrade?
Would be interested in a fair priced unit, working of course.

Re: LSA vs Certified Exp

I think you will find just as many people think a ELSA is worth a premium as folks who think the opposite.
I would pay more for an ELSA.
