Re: Hydrolic lock on 912 ULS

I don't like it when my plane doesn't run at least once a week. Ooof! I'm a bad airplane parent. I go weeks without starting my plane. It's sad. I think my family comes up with reasons to go with me to the airport to distract me and keep me from flying. (My wife is not keen to fly at all,...

Re: CO Detector - Year-round?

Good thing you had that CO monitor, Paul! WIthout it, you wouldn't have known! I have the Forensics Detection CO monitor. I like it since it has flashing LED lights which activate at 50 PPM. But the key was to mount it where I could see it since there's likely no way I could hear the audible alarm i...

Re: Insurance rate shocker

I reached out to Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR-Pros) and they got me a really strong rate with the same coverage I had through AOPA. In fact, it's about 76% the price of my policy last year (which was already high). I just need to clarify a few points with AIR-Pros as I converted my aircraft to ...

Re: Insurance rate shocker

Sigh... add me to the "Insurance Rate Shocker" club.

I got my renewal from AIG (through AOPA), and my premium is up 25% to $2,500 for $65K in hull value! No incidents in my past (but a lower time pilot.) Ouch...

Re: Hello from SoCal

Welcome Joel! The Aircraft Factory (as suggested) is a great place to visit. Friendly folks, awesome aircraft. I love my Sportcruiser, but if I ever needed 4 seats, that Sling 4 or Sling TSi is definitely a strong contender. KFUL has the California distributor for Pipistrel. Friendly guy and worth a...

My first Porsche was a 1970 914 (1.7 liter four cylinder) I bought new from Bob Smith Porsche in Hollywood, and have always thought of 914s as Boxster version zero. 8) Bob Smith Porsche Audi...that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time! Went with my dad to look at. 1979 Porsche 928 and 924 there a...

Re: Experience with the Viper SD4?

Another vote for the Sling. The Sling 2 is what got me to be a Sport Pilot. Love the plane, but needed a bit more useful load (as a bigger pilot). Have you considered the Sportcruiser? I love mine. Bunch of fun to fly and the early ones are priced very well and perfect for an E-LSA conversion. Sorry...

Re: Hanger Space...no luck

I like Nomore767’s idea. The RV12 has foldable wings, as does a Remos. I haven’t been to Colorado, but it sounds about on-par with a lot of other areas where hangar space is at a premium. I pay a King’s ransom to keep my airplane in a hangar with a leaky roof. And I consider myself lucky to even hav...

Re: Big Guys and LSA training??????

Good luck, LIttleJoe. I’m a big guy too, and did the same as you’re doing. I lost the 20 pounds to be able to fly with a good sized instructor and was able to get my Sport Pilot certificate, so it can be done. I also did the ground school first and passed. I will say that it all makes more sense if ...

Tomorrow is the DAY! We are leaving Caro to take the long journey home to FL, with my CFII son providing adult supervision. Congratulations, Cam! I bet it feels great bringing your new pride and joy home! I hope the first day went smoothly and enjoyably, and look forward to reading about the trip!

Cam737 - congrats on having your Sling 2 up in the air and flying! Gorgeous craft! I bet you can't wait to fly her!

Question: Awesome video, but why the smoke test?

Re: Big Bore kit from Edge powersport

I have been following Edge Performance, and BadAss Powersports is their North American distributor. I actually am keenly looking into their fuel injection system for smoother, cooler running, no-carb-sync issues, and avoidance of vapor lock. But I digress... Edge Performance’s big bore kit seems to ...

Thanks for sharing, Paul! Glad the financials are improving, but clearly this is a career driven by passion for introducing others to aviation. Hope to catch you in Sebring in a few weeks if I can get a day off from work! (I’d be flying commercial from the West Coast.)
