Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2

So bottom line, the way I read and would seem others are of the same opinion, if you have held a Class 3 med certificate (with the 10 years, blah, blah) even if you never obtained a private pilot certificate, you could obtain a PP certificate using the new BasicMed guidelines. Agreed?

Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2

A few SportPilots may try for the PP. Those with an expired Class 3, but never got the license and instead got a Class 3 may sit for the exam, checkride and fly something different.

Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2

Thanks for quick response..

Two thoughts:

1. I don't think Special Issuance is a concern. I understand that if you had a Class III, even with a Special Issuance you still qualify.

2. Can you train for and take your private pilot check ride in an LSA?

Re: Senate passes pilot bill of rights 2

Ok, I have a question. My buddy was issued a Class III medical in 2007 (Special issuance 2 years) and never completed his training. The medical lapsed naturally in 2009. Years later, 2013 (ish) he obtained his Sport License and has been flying as a sport pilot ever since. He now wants to get his pri...

Re: Fuel pressure, sensor

I too had the problem. Put the new fuel system, banjo bolt and check valve on.. Runs like a kitten. FYI, I think the aux fuel pump seems now to provide a true boost in pressure readings where before it may have been negligible. Fly Safe.

Devil is in the details.. First glance it appears the "form" they are asking your physician to execute will be the key.. Any other thoughts?

Re: What's the best GA airport to fly light sport into LA?

KSMO...They will charge a landing fee, about $6.00 per/1k lbs. You will likely avoid most of the traffic to UCLA. I get an UBER or cab. Its is about 10-14 minutes (normally) depending on traffic. Enjoy!

Re: Has anyone got themselves an LLC to own their LSA?

This too should not be taken as either legal or accounting advice. I do believe that the LLC does create a "sales tax" harbor. This harbor is not for you however, it is for the next guy. Why worry about the next guy? It makes your plane more valuable and less expensive. If the plane is an ...

Impossible Turn

Thought you might enjoy watching the IMPOSSIBLE TURN. Please don't try this without proper training. This video was shot several months ago during emergency procedure training. This is a great example of the impossible turn done at 450ft. The video was shot at KSNA when runways where number 19L and ...

Re: 25kts Landing

Thanks for the comments.. My use of the vernier was/is both taught and typical. With those winds, carry extra throttle and speed was required over the text book landing. This video was taken before I received my certificate and have since flown in similar conditions alone. Glad to have had the train...

Re: 25kts Landing

The throttle definitely requires some getting used to. What appears to be small adjustments are actually fairly significant changes. I often will slide the throttle in and out for larger changes in RPM but typically not for 5 or 10 knot adjustments. It simply doesn't feel as controlled. Definitely p...

Re: 25kts Landing

Thanks for the comments. Crosswind component on this one was definitely 10kts or so.. We did about three or four that day and they ranged from 050@25 to 040@30... Really happy to have had the experience, although I was a bit nervous (obviously). Most interesting for me was at the turn from Base to F...
