Re: Possible changes to converted E-LSA operations limitatio

I don't see anywhere it's been cleared up exactly what is/isn't being proposed. and we received verbal assurances from FAA officials that they were receptive to changes to the language that would maintain the intent of the previous order This is the only thing I'm seeing that suggests they may not g...

Re: Possible changes to converted E-LSA operations limitatio

You have got to be kidding me.......!!!

Is there some data/evidence to show that SLSA's converted to ELSA are killing people??!!

EDIT: I see above that there is not data to say that ELSA's are dangerous.. what gives FAA???

Re: "In furtherence of a business"

I think one reason for the rule is "get there itis". If your boss has made the arrangements and the weather is a bit iffy, would you be compelled to take a flight you might otherwise avoid? I think you and a few others have hit the nail on the head. This is their reasoning for the differe...

Re: Pilots could now fly bigger planes on driver's license

This is very interesting. This was partly why I got my Sport License instead of private. Sport fits me well, I want to own an LSA honestly, get it converted to ELSA, take the 8 hour course and do my own work/annuals. I have a small strip at home I've built, and it would allow me DIY flying all the w...

Re: Another milestone reached

Pickup a copy of this before your checkride: http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/3819 It has about 110 pages of questions/info about the oral part alone. Which is nice, because the oral part is the "unknown". Your CFI can give you a mock checkride as far as the flying goes, and yo...

Re: Took my checkride.....

I would like to know if the dude that lost most of his prop, passed his check ride? Congrats on passing yours! He did!! Drew said they had done all their maneuvers, were just finishing the last one before heading back in for landings when it happened. After the whole thing was over, and they were a...

Re: Took my checkride.....

Right after passing my checkride in a C150/152, I got checked out in a C172. My first passengers were my parents, on a short hop from Opa Locka, FL to West Palm Beach and return. I was pleasantly surprised at the faith they had in me. In any case, stay active in the forums, and keep reading everyth...

Took my checkride.....

3rd time scheduling it... had to cancel a few times due to weather, and then my examiner's plane breaking down several states away.. today we finally got a chance to get together.. The oral was easier than expected. I had to look up 1 question. I was worried about this part of the test, ended up bei...

Re: Ready for tests... few pictures and videos of the journe

Thanks guys... took a video with a head cam today..... nasty conditions. Direct crosswind 14 knots.. gusty, downdrafts the whole deal. Not "nice" flying but good practice!! made 8 landings... went with no flaps on the last few when the wind really picked up. I've found the CTSW/LS doesn't ...

Ready for tests... few pictures and videos of the journey

I'm just about to 20 hrs... just been reviewing maneuvers and finishing up solo time. Tonight was the first time I've flown in calm conditions... what a joy! Practiced my short field landings picking different spots on the runway to land. Good news is I have had a lot of cross wind practice already....

Re: No flight lesson for me today, just ground school.

I understand your frustrations... 75% of my instructional flights were cancelled due to wind here (we fly in 25 knots or less here if it's fairly in line with the runway because its often 35 knots, I did some solo in 15-17knots w/ a crosswind component of half that... a bit scary but since I landed ...

Re: Sport License in progress!

Did my cross country flight tonight! Made 5 more solo takeoffs/landings at KLIC airport while we were there. My instructor got some videos (but they seem far away in the video). My GF's house happens to be pretty close to the course we took. She lives in the middle of nowhere like me, on a 1300 acre...

Re: Sport License in progress!

haha thanks :D Hoping to go on my cross country tonight. Been 30+ knot wind all week so my last couple solo flights got cancelled. And even worse it's wreaked havoc on the big fire here thats about 20 miles away :( ... praying for some rain for them. Anyway, I got some ground in instead for cross co...

Re: Sport License in progress!

Thanks :) A day I won't forget! Made 5 takeoffs/landings. Went great, probably my best landings.. I understand what you were saying here now: It wasn't nervousness per say. Just another category of mental multitasking added to the existing multitasking of flying the plane. I was more nervous going u...
