Re: Club meeting

Tim, my father turned out to be the benefactor. He loves Ercoupes and used to own one. Last summer he approached me about a barn find Ercoupe in Missouri. We went there and trailered it back. I told him about my exploring ways to fill the vacuum of light sport flying options in our area, and eventua...

Re: Club meeting

We have 8 and soon 9 members whenever she is ready to go after having her baby. We cap at 15. One is an A and P IAA? as our maintenance officer. One is a CFI. We don't do primary training, but he can handle check rides, BFRs and endorsements.

Not a bad start for the first official week of existence.

Re: Club meeting

You must be looking just for retirees. Not really, we intend an evening or weekend meeting later. We just have a few guys that want to check it out, and this is the best time for them. But the meeting is on a Monday at 2PM??? You have excluded almost everyone who works for a living :? I may be past...

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

3376H is out of annual and ready to go.

We have a membership structure. No initial buy in!!

$150 per month includes 2 hours flight time. Additional hours at $50. All hours wet.

Unbeatable low cost flying of a classic Ercoupe LSA.

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

From our facebook page Update. We have acquired a hangar at Ryan field (KRYN), so barring any unforeseen issues, that is where we will be based. Our sport pilots will need to get a tower endorsement, but I imagine most will want that anyway. 3376H has been flown and reports are positive, but we are ...

Re: Were you comfortable explaining to your fellow pilots you became a sport pilot because of a medical reason?

I got into it with someone on the GA board. I had said that light sport fit my mission that's the type of plane I had and though I could probably get the med it might take SI's so I didn't want to spend the cost and hassle of that. He said I was just cheap and shouldn't become a pilot because of bad...

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

Thanks Tim, we are just starting out. We have 4 probable members so far and also a couple of prospects but we don't even have a home yet, and haven't seriously got the word out. My Dad found a barn find Ercoupe and over the summer we picked it up from Missouri. Alongside our A&P, we have been wo...

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

Well we have aircraft now so are starting to structure our club. We won't be able to do it where we had planned as they have gotten so busy over the past year there is no room for us.

Anyone who thinks GA is dying should try finding a hangar to rent in Southern AZ.

Congrats Jam_Man

I did my training there as well, but had to suffer a long pause when finances took a big hit. Hope to someday resume.

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

I suppose I'll finish getting my ticket but that's about all the flying I'll get to do if I have to drive a minimum of two hours to rent a plane. I think there is a real opportunity here for an LSA club or even a money making rental, because it would be the only one near a city of about a million, b...

Re: Looking to start an experimental/sport flying club

Can I ask what the roadblocks are? Were you not able to agree on an aircraft? Not enough people interested? Not enough people with money interested? Does anyone have an LSA for sale in a two hour radius they would want to put in a leaseback situation? Just trying to think of ideas! You just can't s...
