Re: Sky Catcher Spin Incident
Skycatcher POH : "Power -on stall recovery should be initiated by simultaneously lowering the nose while reducing power after which normal power -off stall recovery techniques should be applied."

Re: New P2008 Owner and short flight review!
Thanks y'all! At this moment we still technically own a Skycatcher that is just about sold, so that is really the only thing we can compare to. As it pertains to wing loading, I'll have to do some more digging around and research. Our POH that we have for the airplane have the wing loading listed a...

Re: New P2008 Owner and short flight review!
Glad you like the airplane. Your comment about turbulence is somewhat surprising since the P2008 is listed as having a wing loading of 10.1 lbs/sq ft as opposed to the Skycatcher of 11 lbs/sq ft. Subjectively, I find low wings handle turbulence a bit differently that high wings, in a way I slightly...

Re: RV12 down in MD
That's a lot of skill and experience. As a pilot in training, this is the part I hate about aviation. If a guy with that much experience can get bit, what does that say about us greenhorns? I had a cat, Miles, who used to always get into a fight with a fox that lived in neighboring woods. He was a ...

http://www.wbaltv.com/news/small-plane-crashes-on-eastern-shore/39106870 Before anyone concludes that the pilot spun or stalled the aircraft, take a look at this video. The longitudinal axis of the airplane appears to be perfectly aligned with the extended center line of the runway. The condition o...

Re: RV12 down in MD
I've deleted my posts since some readers seem offended by them. The opinion appears to be that it is inappropriate to speculate about the cause of an accident until the official investigation is completed. So be it. I for one, see nothing wrong with reasonable speculation based on what evidence is a...

Re: My week of flight training - Review of events
Try taking off with a slight nose down trim setting, with instructor concurrence, of course. You will still have more than an adequate climb rate but with better visibility over the nose which will enhance collision avoidance.

Re: ELSA Service Bulletins
I was surprised when I was hit with Cessna Mandatory SB12-74-01 at the last annual. When I owned my Skyhawks, I used to receive all the SBs from Cessna as well as notifications from Slick and Lycoming . Now I get nothing. I gather that if I want to get them I have to pay an inordinate subscription ...

Re: ELSA Service Bulletins
That SB was issued in 2012. If you were registered as the owner with Cessna Customer Care at that time you would have received an E-Mail from Cessna for that SB. Even though the SB originated from the producers of Slick mags Cessna forwarded the SB to Skycatcher owners that were registered with Cust...

Re: Skycatcher/Garmin G300 Question
The major difference is that everything is jammed onto a single screen, so all the different displays are much smaller. You also need to toggle between the GPS and HSI presentations if you want to view the wind data. Having a full screen GPS is nice, especially for the safe taxi map when you are at ...

Re: Worlds most expensive flight jacket
When I view my picture post from my PC the pictures are sideways, but when viewed on my IPad the pictures are right side up. Don't know why, someone more tech saavy than me would probably know.
