Re: SP Student certificate requited for taking knowledge tes

Just make sure that your name on your ID (Drivers license) and your Student Pilot certificate match exactly with what the test center has. I had a situation over a middle initial one one and full middle name on the other that resulted in a paper chase and almost a retake of the written test.

Re: It begins at the center

Tony
I can tell you what helped me alot. Internet forums and PODCAST's. If you have an iPod Touch, iPhone, etc. you can search through there. If you don't then frequent this site, it's updated several times a week and did alot to keep me focused. http://www.thevoicesinyourhead.com/

Hope it helps!

Re: checkride friday

My PP check ride was last week and ended with a Discontinuance. (Hurricane Sandy was on the way up the coast and the ceiling became a factor. (Scored major points with the examiner for calling it off tho'). I was totally fried worrying about the oral and it was unwarranted leading up. The line of qu...

Re: Why Sport Pilot

Joe, Why not train/fly the LSA over at Trenton? (KTTN). I've got about 20hrs logged in their Sport Plane before I moved on to work on my PPL. It was out for maintenance for a while but I saw it parked back on the ramp about a week ago, looking pretty as ever. It's a Storm Century, Low wing. 912 Rota...

Re: Deadly Adventures USS Yorktown~90 lb dog takes over cont

Hi Yorktown, First as a dog owner/lover I commend you on using GA to help our "furball" friends. As a student pilot (hopefully that changes the end of the month, checkride looming..) the subject is of interest to me as generally my own dogs go everywhere with me. Belgian Malinois specifica...

Re: Smoky Mountain Airport Recommendation?

Hi Dave, Still a student myself so I cannot speak to flying in there (yet!) but my family and I are regulars in the Smokies. Have you looked at Pigeon Forge? id: KGKT I can tell you if sight seeing is your goal, KGKT is as close as it gets. There are numerous hotels within 5 miles of the airport, mo...

PJ, I had the ASA Sport Pilot app for my iphone but for me it just didnt help me absorb the material as I was going through it. I probably spent $100 on apps before I was forced to transition from Sport to Private but I cannot sing the praises of Gleim's online ground school enough. If $99 isn't too...

Mike, I'm in NJ myself but a friend of mine lives over that way in Butler. Maybe call Butler Air, (541) 923-1355 I cant say for sure they handle Light sport but if you get hold of the right person, many times they'll be kind enough to send you in the right direction if they can't help you. Good Luck!

If it's any help to anyone, I took my Knowledge test last week for the PPL and was pleased to find out they applied a $10 discount if you are an AOPA member making my exam fee $140 instead of $150. This was using the CATS system fwiw.

Thanks for sharing! From someone who is not a big fan of slips (yet)? I tip my hat to you! Before being forced back to NJ I was a resident of Carterville, GA for 15yrs but never got to do any flying down there and I lived maybe 2 miles from the Cartersville Airport. One trip I've planned in my head ...

Studying for Written - Audio Study Aid options?

Hey gang, I'm getting down to "that" time and need to get my written out of the way. I have the luxury of averaging 5hrs a day in the car commuting for work between NJ/NY and it seriously cuts into my book time. Does anyone know of any Audio based study aids that will help me take advantag...
